Sports Correspondent: Imran Sohail

Pakistan’s junior women’s hockey team has officially qualified for the Women’s Junior Asia Cup 2026 after receiving a formal invitation from the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF).

The confirmation was shared through an official letter sent to the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), stating that Pakistan secured its place in the continental tournament based on its final ranking in the Women’s Junior AHF Cup 2026.

Qualification Confirmed

Although Pakistan did not win a match during the five-team qualifying event, the team remained eligible for the Women’s Junior Asia Cup under the tournament’s qualification criteria.

During the competition, Pakistan faced defeats against:

  • Hong Kong China
  • Uzbekistan
  • Kazakhstan
  • Bangladesh

Despite the results, the AHF confirmed that Pakistan’s final ranking was sufficient to earn qualification for the 2026 tournament.

Official AHF Statement

In its official communication, the Asian Hockey Federation congratulated Pakistan on securing a place in the upcoming event.

The federation also clarified that participation is subject to completing all required administrative formalities and meeting tournament regulations.

PHF Asked to Confirm Participation

The AHF has requested the Pakistan Hockey Federation to confirm the team’s participation by 24 July 2026. Early confirmation will help organizers finalize:

  • Team accreditation
  • Travel arrangements
  • Accommodation
  • Match scheduling
  • Other operational preparations

Return to the Continental Event

If the Pakistan Hockey Federation accepts the invitation, Pakistan’s junior women’s hockey team will make its first appearance in the Women’s Junior Asia Cup since 2012, marking an important opportunity for the development of women’s hockey in the country.

The qualification offers the young squad valuable international exposure and a chance to compete against some of Asia’s strongest emerging hockey teams.
