Police Investigate Drone Crash in Sheikhupura After Suspected Narcotics Recovery

SHEIKHUPURA: Police have launched an investigation after a drone carrying suspected narcotics crashed in a residential area of Narang Mandi in Sheikhupura on Sunday.

According to District Police Officer (DPO) Bilal Zafar Sheikh, officers responded after receiving reports that a drone had fallen onto the roof of a house within the jurisdiction of Narang Police Station.

Drone and Suspected Contraband Taken Into Custody

Police said the drone was secured from the scene along with a package wrapped in yellow tape that was attached to the aircraft.

Initial police findings indicate that the recovered package contained approximately 5 kilograms of suspected heroin. Authorities have taken the drone and the recovered material into custody for further examination.

The area was temporarily secured while investigators collected evidence.

Investigation Underway

DPO Bilal Zafar Sheikh said authorities are working to determine the purpose of the drone flight and identify those responsible for operating it.

He added that investigators are examining whether the drone was being used for illegal transportation within the country or as part of a cross-border smuggling attempt. No official conclusion has been reached at this stage.

Police have also increased patrols in the surrounding area as part of the ongoing investigation.

Authorities Continue Evidence Collection

Law enforcement officials said efforts are underway to trace the origin of the drone and establish the intended destination of the recovered package.

Officials emphasized that the investigation remains in its early stages, and further information will be shared once forensic analysis and other inquiries are completed.

Police have urged the public to report any suspicious drone activity to help support ongoing investigations into the incident.
