Punjab E-Bike Scheme Applicants Get Same-Day Driving License Facility
The Punjab Traffic Police has introduced special arrangements to help students obtain driving licenses required for the provincial government’s electric bike scheme.
Punjab DIG Traffic Waqas Nazir has directed driving license centers across the province to facilitate students applying for the 100,000 electric bike scheme. Traffic authorities have also instructed CTOs and DTOs to make the licensing process more convenient for eligible applicants.
Learner and Regular License on the Same Day
Under the new arrangements, eligible students will be able to obtain both a motorcycle learner’s license and a regular driving license on the same day.
Normally, applicants have to wait 42 days after receiving a learner’s license before applying for a regular license. Students applying through the e-bike scheme will be exempt from this waiting period.
A valid motorcycle driving license will be required for students who want to participate in the e-bike scheme.
More Students Getting Driving Licenses
According to the Punjab Traffic Police spokesperson, more than 222,000 motorcycle driving licenses were issued across the province during the past eight days.
In addition, traffic authorities have issued more than 6,500 juvenile driving permits during September.
The department has instructed licensing centers to provide efficient services to students applying under the e-bike initiative and reduce unnecessary delays in the licensing process.
Focus on Road Safety
Along with making the licensing process easier, the traffic police has emphasized the importance of proper road-safety education.
Waqas Nazir directed officials to ensure that students receive appropriate guidance and training so they can operate motorcycles responsibly and follow traffic regulations.
The special arrangements are intended to help eligible students complete the licensing requirements more conveniently while promoting safer riding practices across Punjab.
