Punjab Expands Green Electric Bus Service to Layyah
The Punjab government has expanded its Green Electric Bus initiative with the launch of a new service in Layyah, aiming to improve public transportation while promoting environmentally friendly travel across the province.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif formally inaugurated the service through an online ceremony, while local officials held the launch event at the Layyah Sports Complex.
Modern Public Transport for Residents
According to the district administration, Deputy Commissioner Asif Ali Dogar, along with local representatives, participated in the inauguration ceremony.
Officials said the electric bus service is designed to provide affordable and reliable transportation for a wide range of passengers, including students, women, senior citizens, and office workers.
The service is expected to improve daily commuting by offering lower travel costs and enhanced convenience.
Comfortable and Eco-Friendly Travel
The newly introduced buses are equipped with air-conditioning and modern passenger facilities to provide a safe and comfortable travel experience.
District officials said the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to modernize Punjab’s public transportation system while encouraging the use of cleaner and more sustainable transport options.
Supporting a Greener Punjab
Authorities noted that electric buses produce lower emissions than conventional fuel-powered vehicles, helping reduce air pollution and supporting the province’s environmental goals.
Officials described the expansion of the Green Electric Bus service as another step toward developing a modern, efficient, and environmentally responsible public transport network for communities across Punjab.
The Layyah launch is part of the provincial government’s broader plan to improve public mobility while promoting cleaner transportation solutions in urban and regional areas.
