Punjab Extends Ban on Outdoor Drone Use for 30 More Days
The Punjab government has extended its restrictions on the use of drones in open areas for another 30 days under Section 144, citing security and public safety concerns.
According to a notification issued by the Punjab Home Department, the ban will remain in effect across the province under the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898.
Reason for Extension
Authorities said the decision has been taken to maintain law and order, ensure public safety, and protect public and private property. The restriction applies to all outdoor drone operations across Punjab.
Limited Permission for Indoor Use
The government has allowed limited use of small drones inside indoor venues such as halls and marquees during events. However, event organizers will be responsible for ensuring safe operation and compliance with guidelines.
Exemptions for Security Agencies
The notification states that intelligence agencies and law enforcement bodies are exempt from the restrictions for operational purposes.
Enforcement Instructions
The Punjab Home Department has directed all district administrations and police authorities to strictly enforce the ban and ensure compliance across the province.
The extension of the drone ban comes as part of ongoing measures aimed at strengthening security arrangements and monitoring aerial activity in public spaces.
