Punjab Food Authority Seizes Large Quantity of Expired Food Items in Lahore Warehouse
Enforcement teams of the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) conducted an operation at a warehouse located on Raiwind (Jati Umra) Road in Lahore, where a large quantity of expired food items was recovered.
According to officials, the raid was carried out on the directions of the Director General of the Punjab Food Authority. During the operation, two individuals were taken into custody and a case was registered in connection with alleged food safety violations.
Authorities stated that inspection teams discovered expired raw materials being stored and allegedly used in the preparation of various food products, including juices, jams, tea products, cream, wafers, and beverages.
In total, around 33,750 kilograms of expired or unsafe materials were identified and removed from the facility. Officials further reported that expiry dates on some items appeared to have been altered.
The seized goods were disposed of in accordance with Punjab Food Authority procedures at an approved disposal site.
A spokesperson for the authority said that strict action is being taken against food safety violations and that no compromise will be made on public health. He added that inspections and enforcement actions will continue to ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
Authorities reiterated that businesses involved in food fraud or the sale of unsafe products will face legal action under applicable laws.
