Punjab Implements New Public Transport Fare Reduction
Punjab’s Transport Department has announced strict implementation of revised public transport fares following the recent reduction in petroleum prices.
Provincial Transport Minister Bilal Akbar said special monitoring teams have been formed to ensure that updated fare lists are implemented immediately across the province.
He stated that transport operators must pass on the benefit of lower fuel prices directly to commuters without delay. Authorities will conduct inspections at bus terminals and other transport hubs to ensure compliance with the new rates.
According to officials, the move follows the federal government’s recent reduction in petrol and diesel prices, aimed at providing relief to the public amid easing global oil costs.
Transport authorities have warned that strict action will be taken against operators who fail to follow the revised fare structure.
Officials added that the enforcement drive will continue across Punjab to ensure fair pricing and consistent implementation of the new transport fares.
