Consumer Court Orders Internet Providers to Compensate Customer for Poor Service
A consumer court has directed two internet service providers to pay compensation to a customer after ruling that they failed to deliver proper and reliable internet services.
The case was filed under the Sindh Consumer Protection Act, 2014, in which the complainant stated that despite regular payments, the internet service remained unstable with frequent disruptions.
After reviewing the case, the court ordered the companies to jointly pay compensation to the affected customer and also directed them to deposit a fine into the government treasury.
The court further instructed the service providers to improve their systems and ensure better quality and uninterrupted internet access for consumers.
In its remarks, the court noted that the customer had repeatedly raised complaints, but the issue was not properly resolved by the companies. It concluded that the poor service caused inconvenience and dissatisfaction to the consumer.
The judgment emphasized that service providers are responsible for maintaining the agreed standard of service and addressing customer complaints in a timely manner.
