Punjab Increases Sports Endowment Fund Scholarships for Athletes
The Punjab government has approved an increase in scholarships under the Sports Endowment Fund, along with the inclusion of 243 new athletes to the program aimed at supporting sports talent across the province.
The decision was announced during a meeting chaired by Secretary for Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab, Fazlur Rehman, held at Punjab Stadium.
Officials from the sports department, finance department, and related institutions attended the meeting to review the revised scholarship structure and future expansion plans.
Updated Scholarship Structure
According to the revised plan, financial support for athletes has been increased across different categories. Under the new structure:
- Platinum category athletes will receive Rs. 100,000 per month
- Gold category athletes will receive Rs. 75,000 per month
- Silver category athletes will receive Rs. 50,000 per month
- Emerging category athletes will receive Rs. 30,000 per month
Officials said the program currently supports 313 athletes, and the expansion will further strengthen financial assistance for promising sports talent.
Support for Athletes
The initiative is designed to provide consistent financial backing to athletes, helping them focus on training and performance at national and international levels.
Authorities also announced plans to issue special bank cards to scholarship recipients, making it easier for athletes to receive their monthly stipends.

The Sports Endowment Fund is part of broader efforts by the Punjab government to promote sports development and identify emerging talent across various disciplines.
Officials emphasized that the program aims to encourage young athletes and provide them with resources to improve their performance and represent the province at higher levels of competition.
