Punjab Launches SEHR Program to Promote Skills Development for Women
The Punjab government has launched a new initiative called the SEHR (Skill Enhancement Through Home Reach) Program, aimed at providing vocational and technical training to women across the province.
The program was introduced to help women develop modern skills and improve opportunities for financial independence through home-based learning.
Training Opportunities for Women
Under the initiative, more than 5,000 women will receive training in various fields, including:
- Beauty and personal care services
- Hospitality skills
- Digital and technical skills
Officials said the program is designed to support women who prefer or require home-based learning options.
Program Details and Support
According to official sources, the project has an estimated cost of over Rs. 970 million. In the first phase, over 2,000 women from selected districts will receive specialized training in beauty and related services in collaboration with the private sector.
Participants will also be provided with learning support, including laptops, internet devices, data packages, and monthly stipends to assist with their training.
Government’s Vision
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said the program aims to empower women by equipping them with practical, market-relevant skills.
She stated that women play an important role in economic development and that the government is focused on expanding access to training and employment opportunities.
Officials added that the SEHR program is part of broader efforts to strengthen technical education and improve workforce participation among women in Punjab.
The initiative is expected to help participants gain skills that can support self-employment and long-term financial stability.
