Punjab Opens First Dedicated Pediatric Burn Unit in Lahore
Punjab has established its first dedicated pediatric burn unit at Children’s Hospital Lahore to provide specialized medical care for children with burn injuries.
The new facility has been developed by the Punjab Health Department on the upper floor of the hospital’s existing Diagnostic Block.
30-Bed Facility with ICU Support
The dedicated unit has a total of 30 beds, including eight ICU beds for children requiring intensive medical care.
The facility also includes three fully equipped operation theaters, allowing doctors to perform surgical procedures for children with serious and complex burn injuries.
The new setup is expected to strengthen Children’s Hospital Lahore’s capacity to provide specialized treatment under one dedicated service.
Medical Staff Deployed
Authorities have completed the recruitment of consultant doctors for the unit. Medical officers and nursing staff have also been assigned to provide care around the clock.
Paramedical staff will support emergency services as well as post-operative care, helping ensure continuity of treatment for young patients.
Improved Burn Care for Children
The establishment of the dedicated unit is expected to improve access to specialized burn treatment for children across Punjab.
It will also help reduce pressure on general burn wards by providing a separate facility designed specifically for pediatric patients.
The new unit represents an important addition to Children’s Hospital Lahore’s specialized healthcare services and is aimed at improving the availability of comprehensive burn care for children.
