Punjab Restores Standard Business Hours After Eid-ul-Azha Relaxation Ends

The Punjab government has resumed its standard business operating hours across the province following the conclusion of the temporary Eid-ul-Azha relaxation period.

Under the existing schedule, markets, shops, shopping malls, and commercial centers are required to close by 8:00 PM, while restaurants, marriage halls, and food outlets may remain open until 10:00 PM.

The temporary exemption, introduced to facilitate Eid-related shopping and commercial activity, expired on Monday. Relevant authorities have been directed to implement the regular operating schedule in accordance with provincial regulations.

Officials have stated that the policy is part of ongoing efforts to promote efficient energy use and manage electricity consumption across the province.

Meanwhile, representatives of the business community have requested a review of the operating hours, noting that evening shopping remains popular during the summer season. They have suggested that extended hours could provide additional convenience for customers and support commercial activity.

The government has not announced any changes to the current schedule, and businesses are expected to follow the prescribed timings until further notice.
