Punjab Traffic Police Introduces Junior Traffic Warden Posts for the First Time

The Punjab Traffic Police has announced the introduction of Junior Traffic Warden positions for the first time, aiming to create a new career progression opportunity for traffic personnel across the province.

According to an official spokesperson, City Traffic Police departments in major cities previously did not have Junior Traffic Warden posts. Under the new initiative, appointments will be made in Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad, and Sialkot.

Training Program Underway

To support the initiative, 164 Senior Traffic Assistants (STAs) have been sent to the Police Training College in Sihala for specialized professional training.

Upon successful completion of the training program, the officers will be promoted from Grade 9 to Grade 11 and appointed as Junior Traffic Wardens. Officials said this marks the first time Senior Traffic Assistants will receive training at this level under the traffic warden system.

Focus on Professional Development

Head of Traffic Punjab Hammad Waqas Nazir said the creation of the new posts is expected to strengthen the department’s organizational structure and support more effective traffic management and law enforcement across the province.

He added that the Punjab Traffic Police will continue to promote officers on the basis of merit and seniority under the guidance of the Inspector General of Police. He also emphasized the importance of professional training in enhancing the skills and performance of traffic personnel while ensuring fair career advancement opportunities within the department.
