Safe City Project Launched in Another Sindh District

The Safe City Project has officially been launched in Sukkur, Sindh, as part of efforts to improve surveillance and enhance public safety in the region.

According to officials, more than 50 modern CCTV cameras have already been installed in Rohri, while an additional 160 cameras will be set up across Sukkur city in the next phase of the project.

District Council Sukkur Chairman Syed Kamil Haider Shah, along with SSP Azhar Mughal and Deputy Commissioner Nadir Shahzad, visited the monitoring room established at the SSP Office to review the progress of the project.

Speaking on the occasion, officials said the initiative is aimed at strengthening security monitoring and improving response capabilities across the district. They added that key religious processions, including those during Muharram, will be monitored through the new surveillance system.

The project also includes high-resolution cameras installed at important entry and exit points of the city to help monitor movement and support law enforcement efforts.

Authorities said the Safe City system will eventually be integrated with other surveillance networks and expanded to nearby areas in future phases.

According to SSP Azhar Mughal, the newly installed cameras are equipped with advanced features such as vehicle number plate recognition and facial identification technology to assist in crime prevention and investigation.

He added that surveillance coverage has been extended from Rohri to Lansdowne Bridge, and described the project as a significant step toward improving urban security and public safety in the district.
