PCB reportedly considering changes to Test team setup after Pakistan’s second consecutive defeat against England

Pakistan Test head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed’s position has reportedly come under scrutiny following the team’s 194-run defeat to England in the second Test at Lord’s.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is believed to be reviewing aspects of the national team setup, with possible changes to the Test leadership and coaching structure being discussed.

Mike Hesson Could Join Test Squad

According to reports, Pakistan’s white-ball head coach Mike Hesson is expected to become more involved with the Test team.

Hesson, who had travelled to London alongside Director of High Performance Aaqib Javed, has reportedly been asked by the PCB to oversee certain matters related to the Test side.

He is also expected to join Pakistan’s squad for the third and final Test against England, scheduled to begin at Edgbaston in Birmingham on September 9.

Hesson’s expected presence around the Test team has led to speculation about Sarfaraz Ahmed’s future in the red-ball coaching role.

There is also speculation that Hesson could eventually be given responsibility for all three formats, although no official decision has been announced.

Sarfaraz Ahmed’s Coaching Record

Sarfaraz Ahmed was appointed Pakistan’s red-ball head coach on April 18. His first assignment was a two-Test series against Bangladesh, which Pakistan lost 2-0.

Pakistan later faced the West Indies in a two-Test series that ended 1-1.

The team is currently trailing England 2-0 in the three-match Test series after the defeat at Lord’s. The final match of the series will be played at Edgbaston from September 9.

For now, Sarfaraz’s position remains uncertain, and any decision regarding the Test coaching role is expected to depend on the PCB’s review of the team’s performance and overall setup.
