Iran Wins Gold, India Takes Bronze at CAVA Women’s Volleyball Championship in Kathmandu

Iran and India secured podium finishes at the CAVA Women’s Volleyball Championship in Kathmandu, with Iran winning the gold medal and India claiming bronze, while Kazakhstan finished with silver.

The tournament featured strong performances from all three teams, with Iran maintaining an impressive unbeaten run through most of the competition before securing the championship title in the final.

Tournament Overview

Iran advanced through the group stage without dropping a set in several matches and continued their dominant form in the knockout rounds, including a straight-sets victory over Nepal in the semifinals.

India also performed strongly in the group stage, topping their pool before reaching the semifinals, where they were defeated by Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan progressed to the final after a solid semifinal win over India and went on to secure the silver medal after the championship match.

Final Standings

In the final, Iran defeated Kazakhstan to secure the gold medal in a competitive four-set match. Kazakhstan finished second overall, while India secured third place after defeating Nepal in the bronze medal match.

Other participating teams, including Kyrgyzstan, Sri Lanka, Maldives, and Bangladesh, completed the rankings from fifth to eighth place.

Player Awards

Iran’s captain Fatemeh Khalili Chermahini was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament for her consistent performances. Several players from Iran, India, and Kazakhstan were also included in the tournament’s Dream Team selections.

The event highlighted the growing development of women’s volleyball in the region, supported by international training and coaching programs aimed at strengthening national teams.
