Sindh Suspends New Arms Licence Issuance Across Province

The Sindh government has temporarily suspended the issuance of new arms licences and licences for arms dealerships across the province.

The directive has come into effect immediately and will remain applicable until further orders, according to a spokesperson for the Sindh Home Minister.

New Arms Licences Put on Hold

Under the latest instructions, all licensing authorities in Sindh have been directed to stop processing and issuing new arms licences during the suspension period.

The government has also placed a hold on the issuance of new licences for arms dealerships.

Officials said the decision has been taken to strengthen the regulatory framework governing firearms and improve oversight of the licensing process across the province.

Exceptions Possible With Official Approval

The suspension does not completely rule out the issuance of an arms licence in exceptional circumstances.

According to the spokesperson, licences may be issued in specific cases after obtaining approval from the relevant competent authority. Depending on the applicable rules and procedures, this approval may be granted by the Home Minister or Chief Minister.

Applicants falling under an exceptional category will therefore need to meet the relevant requirements and obtain the necessary authorization before a licence can be issued.

Authorities Ordered to Follow Directive

The Sindh government has instructed all concerned licensing authorities to strictly implement the new directive.

The suspension will remain in effect until further instructions are issued by the provincial government. Any changes to the policy or resumption of new licence issuance will depend on subsequent government orders.
