Six Arrested Over Alleged Illegal Gold Mining Along Indus River

Police in Jand have arrested six individuals over their alleged involvement in illegal gold mining along the banks of the Indus River during a recent operation.

According to officials, the action was carried out after authorities received reports of unauthorized mining activities in the area. During the raid, police recovered machinery and equipment allegedly being used to extract gold from the riverbank.

A case has been registered against the suspects, who have been sent to judicial custody while legal proceedings continue.

The arrested individuals were identified as Siffat Ullah (Kohat), Khalid Rehman (Waziristan), Muhammad Irfan (Mari Kanjoor), Adil (Pindigheb), Shafiq Ahmad (Jand), and Saquib Shahzad (Mohalla Karbala, Attock).

Police said investigations are ongoing to determine the scale of the alleged illegal mining operation and to identify whether additional individuals were involved.

Authorities also reminded the public that mining activities without the required legal permits are prohibited and stated that operations against illegal mining will continue in accordance with the law.
