Sri Lanka T20 Squad Arrives in Pakistan Ahead of Three-Match Series

ISLAMABAD: The first group of Sri Lanka’s T20 squad has arrived in Islamabad ahead of the team’s three-match Twenty20 International series against Pakistan.
The 13-member contingent that reached Pakistan on Sunday included eight players and five members of the team management. T20 captain Kusal Mendis, former captain Dasun Shanaka, spinner Maheesh Theekshana and fast bowler Eshan Malinga were among the players in the first group.
Kamindu Mendis, Lahiru Udara, Chamindu Wickramasinghe and Dunith Wellalage were also part of the contingent.
Sri Lanka’s head coach, along with two players and two other officials, is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad on Monday. The remaining five members of the T20 squad are expected to join the team on Tuesday.
The three-match T20I series will be played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The opening match is scheduled for October 9, followed by the second game on October 11 and the third match on October 13.
The T20I series will be the first leg of Sri Lanka’s multi-format tour of Pakistan.
After the T20 matches, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and England will participate in a three-nation ODI series. Pakistan will face Sri Lanka on October 18 in Rawalpindi before taking on England at the same venue on October 20.
Sri Lanka will play England on October 22 in Rawalpindi. The series will then move to Lahore, where Pakistan will meet England on October 25, Pakistan will face Sri Lanka on October 27 and Sri Lanka will play England on October 29.
The ODI tri-series final is scheduled to take place in Lahore on October 31.
Sri Lanka’s tour will conclude with a Test series against Pakistan. Before the Tests, the visitors will play a three-day match in Islamabad from November 4 to 6.
The first Test is scheduled for November 9 to 13 in Rawalpindi, while the second Test will be played in Lahore from November 17 to 21.
The two-Test series is part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle.
