Naseem Shah and Mohammad Wasim Jr. Return to Bowling Ahead of Key Series
Pakistan’s fast bowling department has received a welcome boost as promising pacers Naseem Shah and Mohammad Wasim Jr. have resumed bowling in the nets. Their return comes ahead of Pakistan’s upcoming T20I and ODI series against Bangladesh and the West Indies.
🏏 Positive Fitness Update from Skills Development Camp
Speaking at the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) skills development camp, former interim head coach Aaqib Javed confirmed that both bowlers are actively participating in training and making encouraging progress in their fitness.
“Naseem had some injury issues in the past, but now he is coming here daily, bowling and improving his fitness more and more,” said Aaqib. “Wasim also had an injury and now he is bowling again.”
🔙 Back in Contention for Upcoming Tours
Naseem Shah, a key figure in Pakistan’s pace attack, and Wasim Jr., who has shown promise in the shorter formats, were both previously sidelined due to injuries. Wasim was initially in line to play against Bangladesh but had to be replaced after his fitness setback.
Although early reports suggested they might miss the Bangladesh tour, both bowlers are now back in contention for selection, depending on final fitness assessments.
🗓️ Squad Announcement and Training Camp
The PCB is expected to announce the squads for the Bangladesh and West Indies tours shortly, with players scheduled to assemble on July 8 for a preparatory camp.
As Pakistan aims to field a near full-strength lineup, the return of Naseem and Wasim Jr. significantly boosts depth and competition among the fast bowlers.
🧢 Building Momentum Ahead of a Busy Season
With a demanding calendar ahead—including the ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2025 and preparations for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026—having a robust pool of fast bowlers is critical. The return of these two young talents offers both flexibility in team selection and strategic options across formats.
Stay tuned for official squad announcements and more updates as Pakistan prepares for a packed international schedule.
