The federal government has announced a slight reduction in petroleum prices

The federal government has announced a slight reduction in petroleum prices for the next seven days, providing some relief to consumers across the country.

According to sources, the price of petrol has been reduced by Rs. 5 per litre, bringing the new rate to Rs. 409.78 per litre. Similarly, high-speed diesel will now be available at Rs. 409.58 per litre after a cut of Rs. 5 per litre.

The Petroleum Division is expected to issue an official notification confirming the revised prices shortly.

The new rates came into effect from Saturday, May 16, 2026.

The latest reduction follows a significant increase in fuel prices announced on May 9, when petrol prices were raised by Rs. 14.92 per litre and diesel prices by Rs. 15 per litre.
