Traders Call for Additional Commercial Zones Near Rawalpindi Ring Road
A meeting focused on land use planning along the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) was held at the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on Wednesday under the direction of the Commissioner Rawalpindi and the RDA Director General, Engineer Amir Khattak.
The session was chaired by RDA Additional Director General Masood Ahmad Bukhari and attended by senior officials, including representatives from the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), the Local Government Department, and the Health Department.
Officials reviewed the progress of decisions made in the previous meeting held on May 15, 2026, and examined priority areas identified for land acquisition across different sections of the Ring Road project.
During the discussion, representatives of the business community emphasized the need to allocate more commercial and industrial zones along the Ring Road corridor. They stated that expanded business areas would help promote investment, trade activity, and long-term economic development in the region.
RDA officials responded that adequate commercial and industrial land has already been included in the proposed plan, with the aim of supporting balanced growth and sustainable urban development.
Participants from the Local Government and Health departments appreciated the planning efforts and expressed support for coordinated development of the project. They also confirmed that the proposal would be shared with relevant tehsil councils for further feedback to ensure a more inclusive planning process.
The meeting concluded with agreement among stakeholders to continue cooperation for the timely and effective implementation of the Rawalpindi Ring Road land use strategy.
