Transporters Announce 15% Nationwide Freight Fare Reduction After Fuel Price Cut

Transporters Announce 15% Nationwide Freight Fare Reduction After Fuel Price Cut

The Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance (PGTA) has announced a 15 percent reduction in goods transport fares across the country following the recent decrease in petroleum prices.

Speaking to the media in Karachi, PGTA President Malik Shehzad Awan said the reduction in fuel prices has provided relief to transport operators by lowering operational costs.

He added that the revised fares are expected to ease transportation expenses, which may benefit traders, businesses, and consumers by reducing overall logistics costs.

Industry representatives believe the fare reduction could help improve supply chain efficiency and support efforts to stabilize prices of essential goods in the market.

The PGTA also expressed hope that further reductions in fuel prices in the coming weeks could bring additional relief to the transport sector and the wider economy.

Transporters have also urged authorities to review taxes and charges affecting the sector, including withholding tax, toll fees, and e-challan penalties, to further reduce operational pressure on the industry.

The move is expected to have a positive impact on freight costs nationwide, potentially contributing to lower inflationary pressure on transported goods.
