40 Killed, Several Injured After Passenger Bus Plunges into Ravine Near Balochistan–KP Border

At least 40 people lost their lives and eight others were injured after a passenger bus plunged into a ravine near the Balochistan–Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border on Friday, according to local officials.

The bus was traveling from Quetta to Peshawar when the accident occurred shortly after it crossed from the Dana Sar area of Balochistan’s Sherani district into Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Officials said the vehicle veered off the road and fell into a deep ravine. Emergency responders and district administration teams quickly reached the scene to begin rescue and relief operations.

According to an official statement, preliminary reports indicate that at least 40 people died in the accident, while eight others sustained injuries and were shifted for medical treatment.

Sherani Deputy Commissioner Wali Khan Kakar said the bus initially departed Quetta with 36 passengers. However, additional passengers reportedly boarded the vehicle during the journey after another bus developed a mechanical fault.

Rescue efforts were launched immediately following the incident on the directives of Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti. Authorities continue to assist those affected and assess the full extent of the tragedy.

Officials have stated that the reported casualty figures are based on initial information and may be updated as rescue operations continue and further details become available.
