Zulia End 22-Year Wait to Win Venezuela U-12 National Baseball Championship
Zulia claimed the LXVIII Campeonato Nacional Infantil “AA” (U-12) Baseball Championship with a 6-0 victory over Lara in the gold medal game held in Margarita, Venezuela.
The win marks Zulia’s first national title in the category since 2004, ending a 22-year wait for championship success.
Dominant Performance in the Final
Zulia delivered a strong all-round performance in the final, combining effective pitching and timely hitting to secure the title.
Greiber Diaz played a key role in the victory, earning the win after pitching 4.1 scoreless innings. He struck out two batters and did not allow a run. Diaz also contributed offensively, finishing 2-for-4 at the plate.
Bratley Reyes supported the offense with a perfect 3-for-3 performance, scoring twice to help build Zulia’s lead.
For Lara, Luis Campos, Isaac Urquiola, and Sebastian Jimenez accounted for the team’s only hits in the match.
Aragua Claim Bronze Medal
Earlier in the day, Aragua secured third place with a 10-7 comeback win over Carabobo in the bronze medal game.
Miguel Galavis led Aragua’s offense with an impressive 3-for-4 performance, scoring once and driving in five runs.
Milan Rondon earned the win in relief, pitching 4.2 innings while allowing three hits and one run. He also recorded five strikeouts and one walk.
Tournament Overview
The tournament took place from June 6 to June 13 in Nueva Esparta state and featured 14 teams from across Venezuela.
Games were played at José Luis Bruzual Stadium, Ángel Brito Stadium, and Freddy Subero Stadium.
Zulia’s championship victory capped a successful campaign and marked a significant milestone for the team at the national youth level.
