Musetti Withdraws From Wimbledon, Berrettini Gets Main Draw Spot
Lorenzo Musetti has withdrawn from Wimbledon 2026 as he continues recovering from a left thigh injury, the former semifinalist confirmed.
The Italian said his rehabilitation is progressing well, but he is not yet ready to return to full competitive training, leading to the decision to skip the grass-court Grand Slam.
Berrettini Returns to Wimbledon Main Draw
Musetti’s withdrawal has opened a place in the main draw for fellow Italian Matteo Berrettini, the Wimbledon 2021 finalist.
Berrettini, currently ranked outside the top 40, recently reached the quarterfinals of the French Open and now earns a spot in the Wimbledon field as a replacement entry.
Injury Timeline and Recovery
Musetti first suffered the injury during the Italian Open in May, which also forced him to miss the French Open earlier this season.
In a statement shared on social media, Musetti said the decision was difficult but necessary, adding that his priority is to return to full fitness before competing again.
Wimbledon Countdown
Musetti reached the Wimbledon semifinals in 2024, where he lost to Novak Djokovic in a strong run at the All England Club.
Wimbledon 2026 is scheduled to begin on June 29, with final preparations now underway for the tournament draw and player lineup.
