PHC orders shifting of all courts in Tank and South Waziristan to DI Khan

Courts Relocated from South Waziristan and Tank to DI Khan Due to Security Concerns

Due to escalating security threats, the Peshawar High Court has ordered the temporary relocation of all courts in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s South Waziristan and Tank districts to Dera Ismail Khan (DI Khan). The decision was made to ensure the safety of judicial officers following a series of attacks and rising terrorism in the region.

The relocation, which was unanimously approved by the Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court and other judges, is a direct response to the deteriorating security situation in South Waziristan and Tank. Judicial officers have been instructed to immediately begin operations from DI Khan, according to a report by Express News.

The courts will remain operational in DI Khan until security conditions improve, at which point judicial officers will be able to safely return to their respective districts. All cases from South Waziristan and Tank will now be heard in DI Khan during this interim period.

This decision was made after serious incidents targeting judges in the affected districts, including a recent attack on a convoy transporting judges from Tank to DI Khan.

In this attack, two policemen lost their lives while protecting the convoy, which was targeted by militants in the Bhagwal area of Tank. The convoy included the acting district and sessions judge of Tank, Malik Hasnain, the acting district and sessions judge of South Waziristan, Malik Asghar, and senior civil judge of South Waziristan, Tahira Zainab.

While the judges survived the attack, the increasing frequency of such incidents has raised concerns for the safety of judicial staff. As a result, the Peshawar High Court has relocated courts to DI Khan until the security situation stabilizes in the affected regions.

Judicial officers have been informed of the relocation and instructed to continue their duties from DI Khan until it is deemed safe for them to return to South Waziristan and Tank.
