Pakistan Railways to Launch New High-Tech Business Train on July 19
In a major step toward modernizing the country’s rail services, Pakistan Railways is set to launch a new high-tech business train on July 19, featuring 28 digitally equipped coaches, free Wi-Fi, and an international-standard dining car. The initiative aims to offer a significantly enhanced travel experience for passengers.
Inauguration by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif
The new train service will be formally inaugurated in Lahore by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, marking a key milestone in Pakistan Railways’ ongoing efforts to modernize and improve its nationwide operations.
A New Era of Smart Rail Travel
The high-tech business train is part of a broader reform and modernization agenda, which includes:
-
Digital ticketing systems
-
Enhanced onboard services
-
Upgraded facilities at major railway stations
These upgrades are designed to improve passenger convenience, boost satisfaction, and streamline railway operations for long-term efficiency.
Revenue Boost Through Transparent Outsourcing
In a separate development, the Ministry of Railways confirmed that the department has generated over Rs 3.95 billion in revenue from brake and luggage van operations over the last three years. A portion of this income comes from the outsourcing of services to private contractors, carried out through a transparent open tender process.
Officials emphasized that this outsourcing model not only ensures greater accountability but also improves service quality for passengers, especially in the cargo and logistics sectors.
Looking Ahead
With modern amenities like Wi-Fi connectivity, digitally enhanced coaches, and better service standards, Pakistan Railways is taking decisive steps toward building a smarter, more efficient transportation system. The new business train reflects a growing focus on innovation, comfort, and passenger satisfaction—key pillars for the future of rail travel in Pakistan.
