ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir is scheduled to undertake official visits to Sri Lanka and Indonesia later this month, according to reliable media sources.
Key Diplomatic Tour Begins July 21
Field Marshal Asim Munir is expected to arrive in Colombo, Sri Lanka on July 21, where he will hold high-level meetings with Sri Lankan leadership. Following the Sri Lanka visit, he will head to Indonesia for further diplomatic engagements.
The visits aim to enhance bilateral cooperation, with discussions to focus on defence collaboration, regional security, and strategic partnerships, as per reports.
Strengthening Regional Diplomacy
In an exclusive conversation with The News, Indonesia’s Charge d’Affaires in Pakistan, Rahmat Hindiarta Kusuma, acknowledged that high-level exchanges between the two nations have been limited in recent years. He emphasized that the upcoming visit could play a vital role in revitalizing diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Indonesia.
“This visit will significantly contribute to boosting bilateral ties,” Kusuma remarked.
The upcoming diplomatic tour underscores Pakistan’s efforts to broaden international defence cooperation and engage in meaningful dialogue with regional partners in South and Southeast Asia.
