Chelsea Stun PSG to Win FIFA Club World Cup at MetLife Stadium

Chelsea delivered a memorable performance at MetLife Stadium, securing a convincing 3-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the final of the expanded FIFA Club World Cup.

Entering the match as underdogs, Chelsea defied expectations with a standout display, led by Cole Palmer. The young forward contributed two goals and an assist, helping his side claim a well-deserved win over the European champions.

PSG, who had earlier defeated giants like Bayern Munich and Real Madrid in the tournament, were considered strong favourites. However, Chelsea approached the final with confidence and tactical discipline under manager Enzo Maresca.

Palmer opened the scoring in the 21st minute, finishing calmly after receiving a precise pass from Malo Gusto. Just minutes later, he added a second with a brilliant individual effort, showcasing his composure and technical ability. Before halftime, Palmer turned provider, assisting João Pedro for Chelsea’s third goal with a well-timed through ball.

Despite their strong run in the competition, PSG struggled to find rhythm in the final. Defensive changes due to injuries affected their stability at the back, and missed chances, including one from Désiré Doué, added to their frustration.

Tensions ran high late in the match, culminating in João Neves receiving a red card in the 86th minute. The incident capped off a challenging night for the French side, who were unable to match Chelsea’s intensity and creativity.

The win is a significant milestone for Chelsea and a strong finish to their season. As champions of the FIFA Club World Cup, they now carry a global title and renewed momentum heading into the next campaign.

With the off-season underway, both clubs will reflect on this high-stakes final as they prepare for the challenges ahead. Chelsea, buoyed by their international success, will aim to build on this achievement in the seasons to come.
