WhatsApp to Introduce Threaded Message Replies for Better Group Chat Experience
WhatsApp is working on an exciting new feature that will soon allow users to reply to messages in separate threads—similar to popular platforms like Discord and Slack. The update is currently in development and is expected to launch in a future release for both Android and iOS users.
What’s New?
The upcoming threaded message reply system aims to make conversations more organized, especially in large group chats. Each message will include a small label showing the number of replies it has received. Tapping on this label will open a new window displaying all replies connected to that specific message—making it easier to keep track of multiple conversations.
This feature will allow users to respond directly within a dedicated reply thread, keeping discussions focused and less cluttered. It’s especially helpful when several people reply to the same message, as all responses will now be grouped together neatly.
Interestingly, AI-generated or system-assisted replies will also carry a small watermark for transparency.

Availability and Rollout
The new reply threads were recently spotted in WhatsApp iOS beta version 25.19.10.80, available via TestFlight. Android users can also expect the feature, as earlier versions of WhatsApp beta for Android have shown similar functionality under testing.
Although the feature hasn’t been rolled out publicly yet, WhatsApp beta testers will likely get early access once internal testing is complete and the feature is stable.
