Murree authorities have announced the enforcement of Section 144 for three days during Independence Day celebrations to ensure security and maintain public order.
According to a notification issued by Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi, the restriction will be in place from August 12 to 14, 2025. During this period, access to Mall Road and GPO Chowk will be limited to families only.
The decision, recommended by the District Intelligence Committee in its July 30 meeting, comes in light of expected large crowds and the need to prevent any untoward incidents during the festivities.
Officials have warned that the order will be strictly implemented, and anyone found violating Section 144 will face legal action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
