Puerto Rico Women’s Baseball League Kicks Off August 23

The XVI Puerto Rico Women’s Baseball League (LBFPR) opens on Saturday, August 23, as the Vega Alta Maceteras host the Loiza Cocoteras at Julio Papo Dávila Stadium. The double-header was originally scheduled for August 16 but was postponed due to rain.

Eight teams will compete in a 14-game regular season through October 5, with the top six advancing to the postseason. The first and second-place teams earn direct spots in the semifinals, while third through sixth place face off in the first playoff round.

The defending champions, Arecibo Lobas, have moved to Utuado and rebranded as the Tainas. Santa Isabel Ponys join as a first-year team, and additional games are scheduled in Guayama, Las Piedras, and Santa Isabel on Sunday, August 24.

The All-Star Game will take place on October 12 at Guillermo Moreno Stadium in Santa Isabel. The 2025 season is dedicated to Katiria Davila, a pioneer of women’s baseball in Puerto Rico and IX Women’s Baseball World Cup participant, currently hospitalized.
