Punjab Government Approves Landmark Tourism Projects in Murree and Beyond

Tourism in Murree is set for a significant uplift as the Punjab government has approved feasibility studies for two major attractions — a Sky Walk Glass Bridge worth Rs 72.152 million and a Chairlift & Cable Car project from Lakot to Pindi Point valued at Rs 90 million.

The decisions were taken during a meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP), chaired by Planning & Development Board Chairman Dr. Naeem Rauf.

Key Tourism Initiatives

Alongside Murree’s projects, the PDWP also sanctioned a Cable Car project at River Indus, Kala Bagh, Mianwali with an estimated cost of Rs 81.571 million. These developments are expected to strengthen tourism potential, create jobs, and provide safer travel options for visitors.

Other Approved Projects

The PDWP meeting approved multiple development schemes across Punjab, with a combined worth of Rs 5.118 billion. These include:

  • Construction of a road from Danda Shah Bilawal to Ghool via Lawa, District Chakwal (Rs 1.374 billion)

  • Chief Minister’s Minority Development Programme (Rs 1 billion)

  • Feasibility study for a new theme park in Lahore (Rs 200 million)

  • Accelerate Punjab Startups Tech Programme (Rs 2.3 billion)

Officials in Attendance

The meeting was attended by Secretary P&D Board Rafaqat Ali, Secretary Tourism Raja Jahangir, Secretary Minorities Affairs Farid Ahmad, Chief Economist Masood Anwar, members of the P&D Board, and other senior officials.

With these initiatives, the Punjab government aims to enhance tourism, infrastructure, and economic opportunities across the province, while providing modern attractions for both domestic and international travelers.
