  August 27, 2025

Peshawar Zalmi are going beyond the cricket field to support flood-hit communities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, announcing a charity exhibition match at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium on August 30. All proceeds from the event will go directly towards flood relief and rehabilitation efforts in the province.

Franchise owner Javed Afridi confirmed the initiative, describing it as a cause “larger than cricket itself.” He emphasized that every ticket sale will directly aid families whose lives and homes have been devastated by recent floods. “Every ticket counts. One hundred percent of proceeds will support flood relief and rehabilitation across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” Afridi said on social media, urging fans to show solidarity by filling the stands.

Zalmi’s Legacy of Community Support

The announcement has been widely appreciated, with fans and civil society groups praising Peshawar Zalmi for combining sport with social responsibility. Known as one of the most community-driven franchises in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Zalmi have previously supported education, youth development, and humanitarian causes. This time, the focus is on helping flood-affected families rebuild their lives.

Afridi highlighted the importance of unity during crises: “We stand with every flood-affected family of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This is our time to reunite and rebuild together.”

Impact of the Charity Match

A strong turnout is expected at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium, where the match will serve a purpose beyond competition. Proceeds will fund immediate relief efforts such as shelter, food, and medical support, and contribute to long-term rehabilitation projects aimed at restoring livelihoods and rebuilding critical infrastructure.

By hosting this charity game, Peshawar Zalmi aim to show that cricket can be a powerful tool to unite communities and provide hope for those in need. For the flood victims of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the exhibition match promises to be a symbol of solidarity and resilience.
