Liverpool Break British Transfer Record to Sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle

Premier League champions Liverpool continue their winning momentum both on and off the pitch, completing the record-breaking signing of Alexander Isak from Newcastle United.

According to British media reports, the Reds have agreed a £130 million deal, making Isak the most expensive player in British football history. The 25-year-old striker will undergo medical tests before putting pen to paper on a six-year contract. This transfer surpasses Liverpool’s earlier record of £116 million for Florian Wirtz earlier this summer.

Isak’s Rise at Newcastle

Isak enjoyed a sensational 2024/25 season, netting 23 Premier League goals and cementing his reputation as one of the league’s most clinical finishers. However, his exit became increasingly likely after he voiced frustration with Newcastle on social media, claiming that “promises were broken.”

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe acknowledged that financial regulations (PSR) played a role in the decision, especially following the club’s recent big-money signing of German forward Nick Woltemade.

Liverpool’s Summer of Strength

For Liverpool, Isak’s arrival is the crown jewel of an already remarkable transfer window. The Reds have added several big names to their squad, including Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez.

Having started the new season with three straight wins, Liverpool are already looking dominant. Isak’s pace, power, and finishing ability are expected to give them an extra edge both in the Premier League and in Europe.

A New Era at Anfield

The move is also a major step forward for Isak personally, fulfilling his ambition to play at the very highest level. For Liverpool fans, the signing could signal the beginning of the club’s most exciting attacking era since the legendary trio of Salah, Mané, and Firmino.

While football guarantees nothing, one thing is certain: with Alexander Isak leading the line, Liverpool have sent a clear message to their rivals — they are aiming for sustained dominance at home and abroad.
