WCLA Survey Leads to Evacuation of 86 Unsafe Buildings in Lahore’s Walled City
LAHORE:
The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) has completed a thorough survey of aging and deteriorating structures within the historic city, identifying buildings that posed risks to residents.
As a result of the assessment, 86 unsafe buildings were vacated to protect citizens. The buildings included:

Lohari Gate: 14 buildings

Delhi Gate: 9 buildings

Texali Gate: 7 buildings

Sheranwala Gate: 2 buildings

To support those displaced, the WCLA arranged rental payments, stressing that the safety of residents was the top priority. Officials also highlighted the success of a community awareness campaign, which encouraged many residents to repair and maintain their own homes.
The WCLA reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to heritage preservation and public safety, ensuring that Lahore’s historic identity is protected while safeguarding the wellbeing of its citizens.
