Walled City of Lahore Authority Completes Survey of Dilapidated Buildings

WCLA Survey Leads to Evacuation of 86 Unsafe Buildings in Lahore’s Walled City

LAHORE:

The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) has completed a thorough survey of aging and deteriorating structures within the historic city, identifying buildings that posed risks to residents.

As a result of the assessment, 86 unsafe buildings were vacated to protect citizens. The buildings included:

  • Lohari Gate: 14 buildings

  • Bhati Gate: 10 buildings

  • Akbari Gate: 27 buildings

  • Delhi Gate: 9 buildings

  • Texali Gate: 7 buildings

  • Sheranwala Gate: 2 buildings

  • Yakki Gate: 6 buildings

  • Kashmiri Gate: 4 buildings

To support those displaced, the WCLA arranged rental payments, stressing that the safety of residents was the top priority. Officials also highlighted the success of a community awareness campaign, which encouraged many residents to repair and maintain their own homes.
