Bannu FC Lines Attacked: Security Forces Kill Four Terrorists
A vehicle-borne suicide attack targeted the Federal Constabulary (FC) lines in Bannu on Tuesday morning, causing a powerful explosion at the main gate, officials confirmed.
Security personnel quickly launched an operation inside the premises, with Bannu District Police Officer Saleem Abbas leading the response. According to Regional Police Officer Sajjad Khan, at least four terrorists were killed, while five policemen sustained injuries during the firefight. The operation is reported to be in its final phase.
Over the past few months, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has witnessed a surge in militant attacks, particularly in Bannu, Peshawar, Karak, Lakki Marwat, and Bajaur, often targeting police and security personnel.
Authorities noted that terrorist activity has increased since the TTP ended its ceasefire in November 2022, vowing more attacks. In recent months, police and security forces have arrested multiple terrorist facilitators and dismantled their hideouts in Bannu.
According to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), August recorded a 74% spike in militant attacks compared to July, marking the deadliest month in over a decade.
Officials continue to monitor the situation closely, urging residents to stay alert as investigations and security operations proceed.
