EuroBasket 2025: Vučević Leads Montenegro to Victory, Turkey and Germany Stay Perfect
Tampere, Finland: Chicago Bulls center Nikola Vučević starred for Montenegro, scoring 23 points, grabbing 15 rebounds, and adding 4 assists to help his team secure an 87-81 win over Sweden at EuroBasket 2025. Pelle Larsson led Sweden with 28 points, but Montenegro recovered from a third-quarter lapse to claim their first win in the tournament, keeping their round-of-16 hopes alive.
Vučević’s teammate Kyle Allman also came up big, scoring 10 points in under two minutes to seal the victory. Montenegro will face winless Britain next, with a chance to advance from Group B.
Meanwhile, Serbia stayed unbeaten with an 82-60 win over the Czech Republic, powered by stars Nikola Jovic, Nikola Jokic, and Nikola Milutinov. Turkey extended their streak to four straight wins, beating Estonia 84-64, with Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun contributing 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists.
Germany continued their flawless form, defeating Britain 120-57, led by Franz Wagner’s 18 points and 10 assists, and Tristan Da Silva’s 25 points.
Elsewhere, Latvia overcame Portugal 78-62 behind Kristaps Porzingis’ 21 points, while Lithuania secured a round-of-16 spot by edging hosts Finland 81-78. Finland star Lauri Markkanen finished with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists.
With the knockout stage in Riga, Latvia, set for September 6-14, the group phase action is heating up, and fans can expect thrilling matchups as the tournament moves into its final stretch.
