10 Passengers Kidnapped on Motorway

Armed Attack on M-5 Motorway Near Bhong Sharif Leaves Several Injured, 10 Abducted

Rahim Yar Khan (Sept 2025): In a shocking incident late Wednesday night, a group of armed dacoits launched an attack on the M-5 Motorway near Bhong Sharif, opening fire on multiple vehicles, injuring several passengers, and abducting at least 10 people.

The Incident

According to police, heavily armed men ambushed vehicles on the motorway, firing indiscriminately at cars, buses, and trucks. Over a dozen vehicles were damaged, with many left stranded after bullets burst their tires.

Among the wounded were a woman and a child, along with two other passengers who sustained critical injuries and were shifted to Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Rahim Yar Khan.

Security Response

The Motorway Police immediately suspended traffic near the Guddu Interchange while security forces carried out a clearance operation. Traffic was restored after additional deployment was ensured along the route.

Police sources said the attackers escaped toward the Kacha riverine areas, leaving behind several trucks. Eyewitnesses confirmed that around 10 passengers and crew members were taken away at gunpoint.

Background

The attack comes just days after police drone strikes targeted hideouts of the notorious Indhar gang in the kacha belt. Following those operations, gang leader Tanveer Indhar had issued threats in a video message.

A case has since been registered at Bhong Police Station, and law enforcement agencies are continuing search operations to recover the abductees.

🚨 This incident has raised serious concerns over traveler safety on the M-5 Motorway, a key route connecting southern Punjab with Sindh.
