MDCAT postponed amid floods in Punjab, revised date issued

PMDC Postpones MDCAT 2025 Due to Floods; New Date Announced

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has postponed the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) in response to the ongoing catastrophic floods across Pakistan, the Ministry of Health confirmed on Friday.

The floods have inundated thousands of villages in Punjab, displaced millions, and are expected to move downstream towards Sindh, creating difficulties for students in affected areas.

According to the Ministry’s statement, “After consultations with representatives from all provinces, AJK, and Gilgit-Baltistan, on the instructions of Health Minister Mustafa Kamal, the PMDC has rescheduled the exam to October 26 (Sunday).” The exam was originally scheduled for October 5.

About MDCAT

The MDCAT is the mandatory entry test for admission to medical and dental colleges across Pakistan. Each year, around 200,000 candidates sit for the exam. PMDC, the national regulatory body for medical and dental education, ensures exam standards and fairness across the country.

Exam Centers 2025

This year, the MDCAT will be conducted at the following universities:

  • Punjab: University of Health Sciences, Lahore

  • Sindh: Sukkur IBA University, Sukkur

  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Khyber Medical University, Peshawar

  • Balochistan: Bolan University of Medical and Health Sciences, Quetta

  • Islamabad, AJK, Gilgit-Baltistan: Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University, Islamabad

Health Minister Mustafa Kamal emphasized that the decision was taken “in the larger interest of students” and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing equal educational opportunities to all candidates.

The Ministry assured students that the rescheduling aims to ensure a smooth and fair examination process, giving affected students adequate time to prepare.
