India Defeat Pakistan Again in Asia Cup 2025 Super Four Clash
September 22, 2025
DUBAI: Defending champions India recorded their second victory over Pakistan in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025, winning by six wickets in the Super Four stage at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
Put in to bat first, Pakistan posted 171/5 in their 20 overs. Opener Sahibzada Farhan top-scored with a solid 58 off 45 balls, while Faheem Ashraf added a late cameo to lift the total. Despite the promising start of 93-1 in under 10 overs, Pakistan’s middle-order failed to fully capitalize on the momentum.
In reply, India’s opening pair dominated from the outset. Abhishek Sharma played a brilliant knock of 74 from just 39 balls, well supported by Shubman Gill, who contributed 47 off 28. Their 105-run partnership in under 10 overs effectively sealed the game, leaving Pakistan’s bowlers struggling to contain the flow of runs.
Though Pakistan managed to claim four wickets, India comfortably chased the target in 18.5 overs.
Reaction from fans
The loss sparked disappointment among Pakistani supporters, many of whom criticized the team’s bowling attack featuring Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Abrar Ahmed. On social media, reactions ranged from frustration to humor, with fans sharing memes about the team’s performance.
Some supporters pointed to Pakistan’s past memorable victories for comfort, while others expressed concern over repeated defeats to India in major tournaments. A few even called for changes in leadership after back-to-back losses in the competition.
What’s next
With this result, India strengthened their chances of reaching the Asia Cup final. Pakistan, meanwhile, will look to regroup quickly ahead of their upcoming Super Four clash against Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi.
