KP Imposes 60-Day Ban on Illegal Mining

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Imposes 60-Day Ban on Mining in Karak District

Karak, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa – September 2025 – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced a 60-day ban on mining activities in Karak district to address the rising incidents of illegal mining and ensure public safety.

Under Section 144, individuals and organizations are prohibited from conducting mining or gold exploration during this period. Authorities say the move aims to protect lives, property, and the environment.

Officials highlighted that illegal mining not only causes severe environmental damage but also poses a threat to law and order, with some cases linked to smuggling.

The Home Department has warned that violators will face strict legal action under Section 188, including confiscation of machinery and vehicles, fines, imprisonment, or both.

Officials emphasized that the ban is part of ongoing efforts to curb unlawful activities and safeguard the province’s valuable mineral resources.
