Speaking to UK-based Pakistani journalists in London, the Prime Minister said President Trump assured him of support in strengthening economic cooperation. He also appreciated the U.S. President’s role in facilitating the Pakistan-India ceasefire.
Pakistan–Saudi Arabia Defense Agreement
Sharif clarified that the recently signed defense agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia is not directed against any specific country. He emphasized that the pact reflects decades of close ties, sincerity, and trust between the two nations, and now serves as a formalized security partnership.
According to the Prime Minister, the agreement states that an attack on one country will be considered an attack on the other, with both sides responding through mutual consultation.
Economic Outlook and Reforms
Highlighting Pakistan’s economic progress, Sharif said the government has achieved macroeconomic stability despite challenges such as recent floods. He stressed that efforts are underway to reduce poverty, cut unemployment, attract investment, and maximize potential in agriculture, information technology, and mineral resources.
He added that friendly nations have expressed willingness to support Pakistan in harnessing its natural wealth.
Political–Military Coordination
Sharif noted that there is complete coordination between the political and military leadership. He said he regularly consults with Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir on matters of national interest, including foreign policy and security.
Commitment to Security and Global Advocacy
