Pakistan Hockey Federation Announces New Coaching Staff for National Teams
The Pakistan Hockey Federation has announced new coaching and management panels for the senior, junior, and under-18 national teams as part of its broader strategy to strengthen hockey development in the country.
The appointments were approved by the federation’s ad hoc leadership, aiming to improve performance and build a more structured system across all levels of the sport.
Senior Team Coaching Staff
Former Olympian Manzoor-ul-Hassan has been appointed as the head coach of the senior team. He will be supported by an experienced coaching group including Khawaja Junaid, Wasim Ahmed, Adnan Zakir, Mazhar Abbas (goalkeeping coach), and Shakeel Abbasi.
Junior Team Coaching Staff
For the junior team, Ayaz Mahmood has been named head coach. The supporting staff includes Sameer Hussain, Azfar Yaqoob, and Imran Butt.
Under-18 Team Coaching Staff
The under-18 side will be led by Qamar Ibrahim as head coach. His coaching team includes Rehan Butt, Yasir Islam, and Umar Bhutta.
Focus on Development and Performance
According to the federation, these appointments are part of a wider initiative to revive hockey in Pakistan by strengthening coaching structures, improving player development, and enhancing preparation at all levels.
The new setup is designed to create a more sustainable system focused on talent identification, skill development, and consistent performance improvement across different age groups.
