Punjab Approves Nine Major Transport Projects to Upgrade Public Infrastructure
The Government of Punjab has approved nine large-scale transport development projects aimed at improving public transportation and modernizing infrastructure across multiple districts.
According to officials, the initiatives include the introduction of electric buses, upgraded terminals, and improved bus stop facilities. Work on the projects is expected to begin within the current fiscal year.
Authorities have also approved the immediate release of Rs. 900 million to kick-start initial development activities.
Under the plan, Faisalabad has been allocated over Rs. 3.72 billion for transport infrastructure development, including bus stops and terminals. Gujrat will receive around Rs. 5.10 billion for similar improvements.
The largest share has been assigned to Gujranwala, which will receive more than Rs. 7.44 billion for upgrading its urban transport network.
Additional funding has been allocated for cities including Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Sahiwal, and Multan, while development work is also planned for Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalpur.
The initiative is aimed at improving connectivity, reducing travel difficulties, and providing modern and efficient public transport facilities for citizens across the province.
