Mushfiqur Rahim Surpasses Imran Khan’s Test Career Record
Mushfiqur Rahim has achieved another milestone in Test cricket by surpassing former Pakistan captain Imran Khan on the list of Asian players with the longest Test careers.
The Bangladesh batter reached the milestone during his team’s Test match against Pakistan national cricket team. His Test career span has now extended to 20 years and 351 days, moving ahead of Imran Khan’s record of 20 years and 218 days.
Among Asian cricketers, Mushfiqur now ranks second on the all-time list behind legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar, whose Test career lasted 24 years and one day.
The overall world record for the longest Test career remains with England cricketer Wilfred Rhodes, whose career spanned 30 years and 315 days.
Mushfiqur Rahim made his Test debut for Bangladesh national cricket team against England cricket team at Lord’s Cricket Ground on May 26, 2005.
Since then, he has played 101 Test matches and remains the only Bangladesh player to cross the 100-Test milestone.
The experienced batter also created history in November 2025 when he became the first Bangladesh cricketer to play 100 Test matches and scored a century in the landmark game against Ireland cricket team.
