PM Shehbaz Sharif Directs Pakistani Missions Abroad to Expand Overseas Job Opportunities

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed Pakistani embassies and diplomatic missions around the world to intensify efforts aimed at creating more employment opportunities for skilled Pakistani workers.

Chairing a meeting focused on overseas employment and youth development, the prime minister emphasized the need to improve workforce preparation and strengthen Pakistan’s presence in international labor markets.

Focus on Skills and Global Employability

The prime minister instructed the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), and the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme to expand vocational training, language education, and internationally recognized certifications for Pakistani workers.

He said these initiatives would help young professionals compete more effectively in overseas job markets and improve their career prospects.

Immigration System to Be Digitized

During the meeting, the prime minister also called for the complete digitalization of Pakistan’s immigration system to improve efficiency, transparency, and the processing of overseas employment matters.

The government believes that modern digital services will make it easier for job seekers to access employment opportunities abroad while streamlining official procedures.

Government Aims to Strengthen Workforce Development

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan has a talented and capable workforce, adding that the government is committed to providing quality education, professional training, and skill development to meet international standards.

He noted that expanding overseas employment opportunities remains an important part of the government’s strategy to support economic growth and increase opportunities for Pakistani youth.

UN Secretary-General Candidate Meets Prime Minister

Separately, María Fernanda Espinosa met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s Office in Islamabad.

During the meeting, the prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the United Nations and expressed support for strengthening multilateral cooperation.

María Fernanda Espinosa appreciated Pakistan’s contributions to international diplomacy and acknowledged the country’s participation in United Nations initiatives over the years.
