Pakistan and Bangladesh Agree to Strengthen Cooperation Against Cybercrime and Online Fraud
Pakistan and Bangladesh have agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation to tackle cybercrime, online fraud, and other cross-border security challenges following a high-level meeting between their interior ministers in New York.
Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with Bangladesh’s Home Affairs Adviser Salahuddin Ahmed on the sidelines of an international United Nations conference, where both leaders discussed ways to improve collaboration in law enforcement and regional security.
According to Pakistan’s Interior Ministry, the two sides agreed to expand cooperation in several areas of mutual interest, with a particular focus on combating cybercrime and digital fraud. They also explored opportunities for joint police training programmes and the exchange of professional expertise to strengthen the capabilities of law enforcement agencies in both countries.
Discussion on Regional Security
The meeting also covered recent developments in the Middle East, including the ongoing tensions involving Iran and the United States. Both ministers exchanged views on the regional security situation and the importance of promoting peace and stability.
During the talks, Salahuddin Ahmed appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in supporting regional peace initiatives.
Mohsin Naqvi highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening relations with Bangladesh, saying both countries should make the most of new opportunities to deepen cooperation and expand bilateral ties.
Pakistan’s Participation in UN Security Summit
Naqvi is currently visiting the United States to represent Pakistan at the United Nations summit held on July 7 and 8. The event brought together interior ministers, police chiefs, and senior law enforcement officials from around the world to discuss international security, peace, and cooperation against transnational crime.
On the sidelines of the summit, the Pakistani interior minister also met with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, who acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts to promote peace and international cooperation.
In addition, Naqvi held separate meetings with senior officials from China, Russia, and Sri Lanka to discuss matters of shared interest and ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
