Allegations Surface Over Surgical Procedures at Sargodha Teaching Hospital
Concerns have been raised over alleged irregularities at a government teaching hospital in Punjab after reports claimed that a non-doctor staff member was involved in assisting with surgical procedures in the operation theatre.
According to the reports, the incident occurred at Dr. Faisal Masood Teaching Hospital in Sargodha, where CCTV footage allegedly showed an employee identified as Waqas present during surgical activities.
The report further claimed that surgeon Hafiz Riaz was frequently unavailable and that some procedures were allegedly assigned to the staff member instead of being performed by a qualified surgeon.
The allegations have raised concerns among patients and their families, who have called for an investigation by relevant authorities to determine the facts and ensure patient safety.
In response, the hospital administration clarified that Waqas was appointed as operation theatre (OT) staff, not as a ward boy. Officials stated that due to staff shortages, some trained employees are assigned additional responsibilities to support hospital operations.
The administration also rejected some of the allegations and suggested that complaints against the hospital may be linked to personal disagreements with the management.
No official inquiry or disciplinary action had been announced at the time of publication. Further investigation will determine whether any rules or medical procedures were violated.
